Abstract

The core objective of the current study is to observe the impact of board gender structure on the Environmental Sustainability (ES) of ï¬rms. The study uses a sample of the banking sector in Pakistan from 2011 to 2018. Data were accumulated from annual reports, sustainability reports, and websites. Content analysis is used for the measurement of ES. Our findings are robust to alternative estimation techniques including Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), Panel Corrected Standard Errors (PCSE), and the Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) method. The outcomes suggest some level of support that a connection does exist among board Gender Diversity (GD) and ES. The results of the current study show that ï¬rms with a larger number of board gender compositions are inclined towards better environmental performance. The study offers new information on the part of female directors in encouraging ES and enhances a novel dimension to the continuing debate in this area. The study offers theoretical, methodological, and practical implications.
